Q. I have lately keep loosing bids because the auction navigator has not bid.
or
I placed a bid in the program higher than the winning bid. But I lost the auction. Why?
A. We get such questions quite often and studying the log files of the program shows that the program does everything correctly in 99% of cases. And we should look for the reason elsewhere. Almost all necessary information can be obtained from the logs of the program. If you have not closed the program, you can do it by switching to the Log view (F3). If you have closed the program, you can select the "File"-"Save Log file As..." menu item and save the log of the program to a text file. Below we will show you how it is possible to study the log of the program and the most common mistakes.

1. Problems with synchronizing your PC clock.
Time synchronization is a very important factor for winning an auction so you should pay attention to lines like these in the first place:

eBay Time Synchronization

In this picture you can see the log where synchronization is performed correctly. Synchronization creates three messages in the log each time it is carried out. The most important value is the time shift. The time shift of approximately 0.1 sec to 1.2 sec is normal.

In the picture below you can see the log where there are problems with synchronization.

Failed eBay Time Synchronization

As you can see, synchronization is carried out each hour (you can change this period) and the time offset is 40..70 seconds. It is quite a lot, since the snipe time is usually set to 7..15 seconds and you can understand that the work of the program is unpredictable in this case.
There may be several reasons for this time offset:
- Your PC is out of order
- Your PC is on a network with a Domain Controller. In this case your PC synchronizes its clock with the Domain Controller where the time can be set rather loosely
- You use some other time synchronization software. Below you can see the log where the user used the program Atomic Clock

Failed eBay Time Synchronization

As you can see, each time our program synchronized the time, the time shift was 187 seconds. It happened because Atomic Clock was used and it shifted the PC clock for more than 3 minutes. That is why our program placed a bid 3 minutes before an auction was over. After Atomic Clock was uninstalled, the problem was solved.

And one more synchronization problem. The "Set the time automatically" option is not selected in the program settings. Below you can see the log of this error.

Non auto eBay Time Synchronization

As you can see, there is no "The local time is changed successfully" message.

2. The snipe time is set incorrectly and the program does not have time to finish the auction.
Snipe time is time before the auction is over.

eBay Snipe Time

Below you can see the log when the program did not have time to end the auction.

Low Snipe Time

As you can see from the log, the snipe time was set to 13 seconds, the auction end time was 4:12:22. And now look at the time when the "eBay LogOn is started." message was added. As you can see, it was also 4:12:22, i.e. the program started to enter the eBay username and password when the auction had been already over. I.e. the program lacked 2..5 seconds to confirm the bid in this case. Therefore, the snipe time should have been set to 15..20 seconds.

Setting the snipe time is up to you. It mainly depends on the speed of your Internet connection with the eBay auction. And you should set it depending on your own experience.

3. The item bid exceeded your maximum bid.
Below, you can see the log where the user set the max bid to 88.00 for the current item.

eBay item bid has exceed the possible one

As you can see, at the moment when the program was placing its bid, the minimal bid was 87.00, but then the minimal bid became 90.00, which exceeded the maximal bid of 88.00, so the program lost this auction.

4. Placing a bid manually.
If you use AuctionNavigator, never place bids on the eBay site manually! If you place a bid manually, the program will not be able to work normally until somebody outbids your bid.

5. The program is started after the auction is already over.
See this log and compare the time when the auction was over (15/06/2005 1:49:52 PM) with the time when the program was started (5:59:55 PM 15/06/2005). As you can see, the program was started 4 hours after the auction had been over.

Late program start

The program must be always running in order to place a bid!

6. The eBay login or password is not entered.
You did not enter the eBay login or password after you had installed the program. You should go to the Settings, Program menu, switch to the User tab and click the "Change user name and password" button.

Wrong eBay login or password

7. Buyer Requirements.
Sometimes an unknown error occurs. In this case you can switch to the Log view (F3) and double-click the line as it is shown below.

Bidding Log

You will see the message where you can see a list of files similar to the following

Bidding error files

You can open these files and see the description of the error. For example, on the page below the program failed to win the auction, because the seller specified that the item can be shipped only to certain countries.

Q. Can I win any item during the trial period?
A. Yes, you can win as many items as you wish during the 15-day trial period.

Q. How much must I pay for each won item after registering AuctionNavigator?
A. Nothing. You can win any number of items absolutely for free.

Q. Why is one of the items in "Bidding plan" highlighted red (as it is shown in the picture below) ?

bidding plan
A. It means that the item can’t be bidden though it is in the item list.
Check up the symbol to the right of the item in the auction list.
If the symbol is it means that the folder has the "Win only XX items in the folder" attribute (you are to change this attribute or move the item to another folder).
If the symbol is it means that the item price at the moment exceeds your maximum price (you are to increase your maximum price).

Q. What about international buyers? Suppose I want to buy at the German site www.ebay.de, but there is no www.ebay.de in the configuration list. Can I use your program anyway?
A. You can buy at German www.ebay.de the same way you buy at the USA site. All international eBay sites use one database and when you add an item, say, from the German site, the same item with the same number will be at the USA eBay site.

Q. How my eBay login and password are saved? I want them to be saved only on my PC.
A. Your eBay login and password are stored only locally on your PC. Besides, you password is stored in an encrypted form for better security.
